Political Polls

3 posts in this topic

I got called by reach tell for a poll of who I would vote for if a state election was held today. Not tomorrow, which is strange.

What a set of biased questions. Led me in the direction of Labor, with little choice. For anyone but a patient (who could wait for the ninth option) person it resulted in Labor ra ra ra.

I won't pay a penny of attention to reach tell polls in future - they're biased to whoever is paying the bill.

I did a course on stats at uni. There are techniques for avoiding bias in question design. I'm confused as to why anyone would want a biased result from a paid poll. Unless the objective is a simply a headline.

Excellent for lobbyist groups who want to influence a government decision if it 'accidentally' matches their views.
