How long will Campbell Newman remain?

Springborg has been appointed leader of the LNP. Labor must be delighted that this clown has been appointed leader.

The man didn't even finish year 10. Barely literate.

With all that recycling (Langbroek also back for another go as deputy) you've got to admire their commitment to the environment.

The ALP are declaring they're very confident of forming govt with Peter Wellington's assistance, and are only waiting on the official results to visit the governor and seek govt. The LNP are calling for the LNP to remain as caretaker govt till the crap with Ferny Grove get's sorted out - a by election would be 1 April at the earliest. The electoral commission were due to report final seats tonight, but have pushed that back to the end of the week.

It all hinges on FG (with the assumption that the katters will go with the LNP).

The ALP is hoping to form govt so that if there is a by election in FG, hopefully the people won't kick out a govt after just a couple of months in office.

The LNP is wanting to remain as caretaker govt till FG is sorted out. In which case they hope that as caretaker govt they will be returned - 'the people didn't really mean to vote out the LNP govt, they were just protesting and will come to their senses'.

Will the governor allow the ALP to form govt knowing that it might only serve for 1.75 months? Or will he allow the LNP to remain as a caretaker govt?

Will the court of disputed returns (headed by a well known LNP supporter) order a by election?

No.

But the result, which has seen Tim Nicholls installed as the LNP leader, will mark a change in attitude and approach for the Queensland Opposition, which plans on taking off the muzzle and "taking the fight back to Labor".
