I don't think it renders fibre optic networks redundant. You'll still need trunk networks to do the 'heavy lifting'.

I just wonder how long before a change in wireless technology, allowing it to handle load/bandwidth similar to fibre.

I wonder when wireless will cost the same as wired...

(Cobran, wireless replacing fibre is unlikely to happen because of frequency saturation)
