  1. Hey everyone, Frugality is a big part of living simply, and also in order to save for investments, etc. It's hard to be frugal though when power bills keep increasing! Came across an article which explains that the reason why bills are getting higher is due to the electricity intensive lifestyles that many Aussies now have - e.g use of computers, TV, wifi, etc. Bills have gone up about $100-200 in 2011, and are actually expected to rise even more with the carbon tax!!!! What are your thoughts?
  2. hmm didn't know about this declining bee problem, and how serious it was around the world
  3. yeah i think the reason for the divide was so that curious people wouldn't go ahead and try to read the thing! might end up causing curses and who knows what
  4. even with that $7b given to Europe, I wonder if it will even make a difference?

  8. looks very similar to the conditions in QLD and WA here in Australia
  9. as kids become exposed to computers and technology at an early age, i think the issue of computer illiteracy will fade away over time. I think that perhaps now, it's just not viable, but i think that in the future, we should move towards it. Iit would be much more efficient
  10. I watched some of the episodes of the Block - first time i watched it Pretty interesting actually. I'm not so big on renovating, but I recently just made an offer on a property which needs some renovations. I'm not aiming to flip it, just go for the positive cash flows instead
  11. read the article. I guess the rental squeeze is just as bad on the western part of the country as it is over here in sydney
  12. it says that he has a personal property portfolio of 50 - how did he borrow for all that?!

  14. even if she is an aussie icon, she must sure like losing money. If I were her, i'd hold on to the property, keep living in it and sell later on when the market picks up again
  15. looks like a good time to buy - lots of cheap properties
  16. hahah seems ridiculous to me. yield is unimportant when both value and rents are both falling - ouch
  17. Whiel the property industry is a major contributor to the Victorian economy, since the property market at the moment isn't that strong, I wonder if the property market's contribution has even greater potential in the future.
  18. yikes.. it would be best if you were living very far away from those fuel rods
  19. How was it against his Christian religious views to vote?

  22. i consider myself to be more productive doing activities that make an ecnomic contribution and which I'm very good at. I was seriouly thinking of getting domestic help in thefuture (as I hate cleaning'/clooking and feel it's a waste of my personal time). A rebate on that would be fantastic for me as I could focus on more valuable activities.
  23. i'm one of those under-35s in sydney, and currently saving up NOW to prevent being part of the statistic, so i can buy my own home was seriosuly considering living in a regional area or interstate instead, but will be further from family..
  24. blind optimisim, in my opinion!
  25. i was wondering the percentage of auctions that actually are succesfuly. The 20-30 % success rate is an eyeopener - quit low actually. Anyone know what are the costs associated with an auction? and how much fees a seller is expected to pay via auction?
